Sol's Batizado

Sol has been taking Capoeria for almost a year now. Capoeira is a "Brazilian martial art that combines elements of dance, acrobatics, and music, and is sometimes referred to as a game." [More here.]  Sol is a member of the Grupo Liberdada de Capoeira.

On May 10, Sol participated in his Batizado, the event that officially welcomes a new student into the Capoeira community as a "capoeirista." [More here.] Passing his first test made this possible. The "Troca de Cordel" is an event during the Batizado in which capoeiristas receive a new cord (like a Karate belt) after a game is played against a Mestre (Master), where they demonstrate that they have earned the right to wear it.

This video shows Sol's "game" with a Master. At the end, the Master awards the cord to Sol. The woman who gives a thumbs up is Professora Amazona. She is Sol's teacher.
