Daddy doesn't read.

Shana and Luna always give me (Steven) a hard time about not reading. They're avid readers and they think I'm not. It's true that I don't read much fiction, which - to them - is the real thing, the thing you read for pleasure. I read a lot, actually. I swear. I have some credentials to prove it. I actually *like* reading journal articles and books on Vygotsky and Piaget. Yes, it's work, but it's also pleasure.

Well, the other day, I was dropping Luna off at hebrew class. Rabbi Federman offered for me to stay, saying, "Go ahead. Take a seat. We have plenty of books to read." And to that, Luna responded, "He doesn't read."

Shana thought this was hilarious and blog-worthy, so here it is. I hope you enjoyed it. And if you're wondering what to get me for my next birthday. I'd love James Spradley's "The Ethnographic Interview" (1979).
