Luna's next club

[The "I" in this post refers to Shana.]

Luna decided to have a club. She was very excited by this idea. So instead of doing her usual homeschool work, we worked on her club idea. She said she needed a list of people to invite. She wanted to invite homeschoolers because they won't be busy during club time (she ended up having the club on Saturday, we are still learning which days are weekends and which are school days). We then discussed what the club would be. She said they would tell what they wanted to do and then if everyone agreed they would do that.

She then wanted her club to be Saturday at 10am at Stacy park. Stacy park is pretty far from our house (in Austin distance). And we already had plans on Saturday morning. She and I then decided to have the club meeting at 3pm during the farmers market at Mueller development (i.e., the redevelopment of the old airport).

She then called all of her friends to invite them to her club. She included siblings so no one would feel left out. We then discussed that Saturday was two days away. Luna said that that was really soon. How would she be ready? I asked her what she needed to do to get ready. She said she had a lot to do. She had to pick out the right clothes to run a meeting. She was very serious about this.

By Saturday she had to call everyone again to ask them to bring some show and tell. She said they should bring a battery operated toy. But if they didn't have one they could just bring any toy to show. And if that didn't work they could just tell.

At the club she picked where everyone would sit. She had them sit in a circle and take turns doing show and tell. She went last. By then the club was over and everyone just played.

An interesting discussion took place. One of her friends got upset with Luna. So I asked her why she was upset. She said Luna kept bossing her and telling her what to do. I suggested she ask Luna why she was doing this. So she approached Luna and said, "Luna you are being greedy and telling us what to do." She corrected greedy with bossy. Luna gave her a reason. Something about wanting them to sit in a circle and discuss. So her friend seemed good with that and sat down.

So far, Luna has not mentioned having another club meeting. However, she did mention how hard it was to keep everyone on task.
