We've toured a fabulous
school that we hope to send Luna to. It turns out that kids in the K/1 class ("alpha") do 1 hour of homework a week and the kids LOVE it. Luna wanted homework to do, so Shana came up with some assignments. For one assignment, Luna went on a scavenger hunt around the house looking for examples of triangles, rectangles, squares, circles, and octagons. As someone doing a dissertation on young children's conceptions of geometry, I was particularly fascinated by the triangle she found.
Luna: If you cut this [door] like this, there's a triangle there. [Illustration below.]
