Luna seems to have this learning preference where she won't try something until she knows she can get it right. If she feels like she's made a mistake, she'll abandon the toy for a while.
She used to give us directions about how to build a Lego tower. She would never build one herself, she would instruct and we would construct. This went on for months, until one day when she built a lovely tower much taller than herself.
Now, we've been lightly working on reading for a while. We bought some used sets of Bob books, but they didn't exactly take. We'd work through a book or two, but it never became a habit.
She loves a new PBS show called Word World. I noticed that she'd read words on the screen like "guitar" and "pie," so clearly she's been developing the skill.
Well, as it happens, she read 3 Bob Books on her own today. She figured out every word on her own and pronounced them all.
She's a reader now.
