Last year one of my professors, Tony Petrosino, told me that a friend of his, Wendell Jamieson, an editor for the New York Times, was writing a book about tough questions that kids ask. He mentioned that Wendell was looking for other questions to include, so I sent a few of Luna's to him. One was "Why can't you jump off the bus while it's moving?" That one didn't get included. The other was "Why do things look bigger when I'm closer and smaller when I'm far away?" That one was included. Luna had asked Shana that question when they were on an airplane.
Photographer Joel Meyerowitz answered the question.
The book is called Father Knows Less Or: "Can I Cook My Sister?": One Dad's Quest to Answer His Son's Most Baffling Questions and it's going to published this fall. Here's an Amazon.com link. And here's a webpage dedicated to the book. You can still submit questions there for the paperback edition!
By the way, Piaget didn't even get published until he was 11!
